MANDATORY CURBSIDE RECYCLING IN EFFECT BEGINNING JULY 1, 2010 The public is hereby notified that at their regular meeting held on April 6, 2010, the Town of Angier Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to initiate a Mandatory Curbside Recycling Program beginning July 1, 2010. At this time, rates for this service are being negotiated and have not been determined. Town Staff will design a plan of action to educate the public regarding the curbside recycling program within the next four (4) weeks. RECYCLING LAW IN EFFECT OCTOBER 1, 2009-BIN NOW AVAILABLE Effective October 1st, there is a state-wide ban related to disposal of certain solid wastes in landfills. Specifically, plastic containers, aluminum cans, used oil, white goods, whole scrap tires, motor vehicle oil filters and lead-acid batteries CANNOT be disposed of in landfills. As a temporary measure, a recycling bin has been placed on Dora Street at the water tank location. Please adhere to the new law and use this bin for the above mentioned items. |
